Released USPTO exam questions, explained
The USPTO does not publish today's computer-delivered exam. Years ago it posted some paper exams with their answers. Those are works of the US government (17 U.S.C. 105), so we show them here, free, exactly as released, with our own explanation of each question against MPEP 9th ed., Revision 01.2024 (November 2024), the edition the exam now tests.
Many answers are out of date
These exams predate the America Invents Act and many rule changes. Each question is marked current, changed (the official answer is no longer right) or obsolete (no option can be graded today). Study the explanation, not the old key.
